It's here now and free! The years 7&8 teaching resource
This week, every school with years 7&8 students will receive a free copy of the new teaching resource Staying Smokefree/Te Noho Auahi Kore. It is aimed at developing the resilience of years 7&8 students and encouraging a positive attitude about being smokefree/auahi kore - now and in the future. You can view this resource at Smokefree Schools
and download a copy. It is comprised of a teacher guide, student journal, an audio CD of the stories, and student cards with stories and activities based on the following themes:
- Being well/Te hauora
- Turning down the pressure/Kia tū māia
- What’s the message and what’s the cost?/He aha te kōrero, ā, he aha te utu?
- Smokefree – our lives, our future/Auahi kore – mō tātou, mō āpōpō.
The resource was developed in close consultation with a wide range of people working in the health and education sectors throughout New Zealand. The generous contribution of these individuals and groups has meant that the resource has benefited from the insights and practical solutions offered by people working in the school environment. The resource has been produced by Learning Media Ltd for the Health Sponsorship Council, with funding support from the Ministry of Health. Contact Kath Blair
for further information, ph 04 472 5777.
